Gone are the days that women are relegated to doing household chores and being relevant in the kitchen only. Today’s women are more than homemakers.

In recent years the number of women in enterprising women as been on increase.
Women can seen in different such as sport, fashion, politics, music, business, art and literature etc.

1 Folorunsho alakija:
This woman has clung to her title of the richest woman in Nigeria for years and has also gone ahead to bag the title of the second richest woman in Africa. The bulk of her wealth came from her oil company FAMFA Oil; a multi-billion dollar empire she is directing. The company is involved in oil and gas production and exploration.

As of today, Folorunsho Alakija has wealth that is worth over $1.4 billion dollars and owns vast properties in Nigeria including a private jet. She was born in 1951, Alakija is 66 years old, and this woman is also into fashion designing which formed part of her wealth.

The Richest Woman In Nigeria
Folorunsho Alakija studied fashion designing at American College London and Central School of Fashion, she later returned to Nigeria to establish her own fashion outlet. Alakija was once the secretary of International Merchant Bank of Nigeria in the 70s, the bank is now defunct.

The well-known business tycoon and entrepreneur is also in the printing business. She overtook Oprah Winfrey as the richest black woman in the world in 2014.

2 Daisy Danjuma:
Daisy Danjuma is considered to be the richest woman entrepreneur in Nigeria because her entrepreneurial skills are greater than that of the rest.

This wealthy lady is the wife of one of the richest men in Nigeria – General Theophilus Danjuma. She owns and runs several companies across Nigeria and has proved that she is a brilliant leader.

She started pilling up her bank account when she was elected as a Senator of Nigeria back in 2003. She has also worked on various committees as Senate Committee Chairman on Women Affairs and Youth Development and Chairman of the ECOWAS Parliament`s Women and Children`s Rights Committee.

According to Forbes, her net worth is around $1.71 billion dollars.

3 Chima amanda:
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie grew up in Nigeria.
Her work has been translated into over thirty languages and has appeared in various publications, including The New Yorker, Granta, The O. Henry Prize Stories, the Financial Times, and Zoetrope. She is the author of the novels Purple Hibiscus, which won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award; Half of a Yellow Sun, which won the Orange Prize and was a National Book Critics Circle Award Finalist and a New York Times Notable Book; and Americanah, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was named one of The New York Times Top Ten Best Books of 2013. Ms. Adichie is also the author of the story collection The Thing Around Your Neck.

Ms. Adichie has been invited to speak around the world. Her 2009 TED Talk, The Danger of A Single Story, is now one of the most-viewed TED Talks of all time. Her 2012 talk We Should All Be Feminists has a started a worldwide conversation about feminism, and was published as a book in 2014.

Her most recent book, Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions, was published in March 2017.

A recipient of a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, Ms. Adichie divides her time between the United States and Nigeria.

4 Okonjo iweala:
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala  is an economist and international development expert. She sits on the Boards of Standard Chartered Bank, Twitter, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and the African Risk Capacity (ARC).

Previously, Okonjo-Iweala spent a 25-year career at the World Bank as a development economist, rising through the ranks to the No. 2 position of Managing Director, Operations (2007-2011). She also served two terms as Finance Minister of Nigeria (2003-2006, 2011-2015) under the leadership of President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan respectively.

5 Mosunmola abudu:
Mosunmola Abudu, usually known as Mo Abudu, is a Nigerian media mogul, media personality, philanthropist, and former human resources management consultant. She has been described by Forbes as “Africa’s Most Successful Woman”.

Forbes Media recognised Abudu as the first African woman to own a Pan-Africa TV channel (2013). She was listed as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV by The Hollywood Reporter in (2013) and received the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Women Week in New York (2014).

In 2014, she was honoured with an honorary doctorate (Honouris Causa) from Babcock University.

She has an estimated net worth of $30 million dollars.

6 Linda ikeji:
Linda Ikeji is the face of blogging in Nigeria. When an average Nigerian hears “blogger” Linda Ikeji comes to mind.

The entertainment blogger has built a blog so big that it has become number one online source for corporate advertisers in Nigeria. Her Countless number of exclusive stories has made the former model the most authoritative blogger in Nigeria.

Linda Ikeji has grown from a blogger who covers celebrity stories to a celebrity blogger.

7 Toyin lawani:
Toyin Lawani is not called a serial entrepreneur for nothing as she has a lot of businesses in her empire which she calls Tiannah’s Place Empire.

Music Video Director – Toyin Lawani has two music videos under her belt. She shot two music videos for the baby daddy of her son- Trigga Kess.
Skin Care Specialist- Toyin Lawani’s Instagram account is littered with skin care products and her own patented cream.
Salon Owner – Toyin Lawani runs a saloon amongst so many other things.
Proprietor of a nail, fashion, modelling, and make up school – At Tiannah’s Place Empire, Toyin Lawani has a school for beauty and modelling.

Achievements

She coordinated the Mademoseeile Agliaia Fashion show in 2012, Showcased even while she was four months pregnant at the 2013 Africa Fashion Week London, Showcased the Iro and Buba Evolution at the 2015 Africa Fashion Week Nigeria and also showcased her kiddies line (Elegante Kids) at the same event.
In 2016, Toyin Lawani made headline all over the world as the first Nigerian Designer to organize a celebrity and kids runway show simultaneously.
She was also a guest judge on The first Nigeria’s Next Top Designer show which was held in Lagos and was one of the three main judges on the season II of the same show.
Her work ethic got her a leading role as the only stylist for the Love Like A Movie show in 2016, an event which was headlined by Ciara. Toyin Lawani had the task to create outfits within 5 hours to style the songstress and her dancers for the street dance off in Lagos and she delivered.
Her designs and styling skills have graced editorials for major Nigerian magazines, the likes of Complete Fashion and more. Toyin Lawani is also the creative director of Exquisite Magazine.
She is the first to create the Denim Agbada designs and also infused the designs in different ways. Some of her other notable collections includes The Transformer Collection, Dream Collection, Asiko Collection, Face Collection, Ready to wear Collection and more.
